FL man connected to Trumann case awaits trial on federal child porn crimes

TALLAHASSEE, FL (KAIT) –

The Trumann Police Department is part of an investigation into a Florida man facing federal charges of child pornography.

A news release on May 3 from the Department of Justice states Milton Sumrell, 43, of Tallahassee, was indicted on charges of production of child pornography, enticement of a minor to perform illegal sex acts, and possession of child pornography.

The release stated that Sumrell, "persuaded a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing child pornography and persuaded someone under age 18 to engage in sexual activity" in October and November 2017.

Sumrell is also accused of possessing child pornography between January and March 2018.

The man’s trial is set for June 11.

If convicted, Sumrell could face decades or life in prison on the charges.

The United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations, the FBI, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and the Leon County Sheriff’s Office is also investigating the case.

This is the second suspect arrested in the Trumann Police Department’s investigation from January. Craig Gillum was arrested by police in February.
